Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. With the standard US 40-hour week: $20/hour × 40 × 52 = $41,600 per year (2,080 working hours). With France's 35-hour week the same rate gives 20 × 35 × 52 = 36,400.
How is the monthly salary derived?
As the annual total divided by 12. Multiplying the weekly wage by 4 underestimates it, because a month is about 4.33 weeks (52 ÷ 12) — the calculator handles this automatically.
Why do the country presets use different hours?
Full-time workweeks are set by national law or custom: 35 hours in France, 40 in most of Europe and the US, 45 in Türkiye, 48 in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The preset only fills the hours field — you can always override it.
Are the results net of tax?
No — all amounts are gross, before income tax and social contributions. Deductions differ by country and personal situation; for Türkiye you can continue with our gross-to-net salary calculator.
