GPA Calculator

Enter each course's grade and credit hours to get your weighted grade point average instantly. Unlike most GPA calculators, this one speaks more than one grading language: choose the US letter system (A–F on a 4.0 scale), the Turkish letter (AA–FF) or 100-point system, the German 1.0–5.0 scale or the French 0–20 scale. Numeric systems also show your average on the local scale next to its common 4.0 conversion.

Frequently asked questions

How is GPA calculated?

Each course grade is converted to grade points, multiplied by the course's credits, summed and divided by the total credits: GPA = Σ(points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course give (12 + 12) ÷ 7 ≈ 3.43.

How do grading systems differ between countries?

In the US, letters A–F map to a 4.0 scale. Turkish universities use letter grades AA–FF on a 4.0 scale or averages out of 100. In Germany, 1.0 is the best grade and 5.0 is a fail — lower is better. In France, grades run from 0 to 20 with 10 as the pass mark. Because the scales measure differently, conversions between them are always approximations.

How is a Turkish 100-point average converted to the 4.0 scale?

This tool uses the widespread linear approach based on the YÖK conversion: 50 maps to 2.0, 100 maps to 4.0, and averages below 50 map to 0. Individual universities may publish their own tables, so check your institution's regulation for official transcripts.

How are German and French grades converted to a 4.0 GPA?

German grades are converted with the widely used modified Bavarian formula (1.0 → 4.0, 4.0 → 1.0, above 4.0 → fail). French 0–20 grades are converted linearly (20 → 4.0, 10 → 2.0). Credential evaluators such as WES may apply slightly different tables, so treat the result as a close estimate.
